It was 2008 and Abby, a black Labrador, was playing in the backyard in Pennsylvania with Debra's children. Caught up in the excitement, however, she wandered a bit too far, ending up lost in the nearby woods. She was spotted shortly after 14 km from home, then nothing more. For a full ten years.
Her owners, as time passed, had lost hope, fearing the worst by then. It was therefore an incredible surprise when the police called in January 2018, informing Debra that Abby had been found and identified thanks to her microchip.
The dog, fortunately, was found healthy and well-fed, a sign that someone, throughout all this time, had been taking care of her. The most surprising thing, however, is that after ten years Abby not only recognizes her old owners, but still responds to her name.
A moving and breathtaking story.
