In the countryside and in the city, dog parks now represent a precious asset. Here, in fact, our four-legged friends can run, play and socialize with their peers. At the same time, these spaces also become a place of socialization for humans: how many people have you met at the dog park?
It follows that, here too, certain rules must be respected, mostly dictated by the common sense of pet owners. So let's review together the good habits to maintain when accessing these spaces, with respect for the well-being of your own dog and all others present.
HERE ARE THE RULES TO FOLLOW
- Only enter if your dog is in good health, regularly vaccinated and treated with antiparasitics. Any puppy must have completed the full vaccination cycle, for its safety and that of other dogs.
- If the dog is aggressive or agitated, better not to enter. Always bring a muzzle with you anyway, so that it's ready to use in case of need.
- Assess entry based on how crowded the area is.
- Avoid entering if you have a female dog in heat or pregnant, to protect her and avoid competition and clashes among the dogs present in the area.
- First, let your dog get a bit of exercise: this way, once inside, it will be calmer and not too exuberant with those present.
- Don't enter with your dog in your arms, because it could be seen as a threat by other dogs. Remember that animals have a different way of communicating than ours and a gesture that may seem harmless to us can have unexpected consequences.
- Better not to bring toys. If you do bring them, use them with great caution, making sure not to give occasion for scuffles with other dogs.
- Avoid bringing food (both for you and for the dog), as it could provoke aggressive behavior from other animals present.
- Actively share time with your four-legged friend! Once inside, unleash it, always keep it under control and never leave it alone. Pay attention if it plays with other dogs, to avoid unpleasant situations. Also check that your dog doesn't wander away from the area: in any case, it's better to always have it wear the bluon.me smart wristband to find it in a practical and quick way in case it gets lost.
- Always pick up your dog's solid waste.
- Try to prevent the dog from digging holes. If it should happen, take care to cover them immediately to avoid accidents.
- Don't pet other dogs present without the owner's permission.
- Children must always be accompanied and under the supervision of an adult.
- If the area is fenced, make sure the gate remains securely closed, both when entering and exiting.
- Stay in the dog park for a maximum of 30/40 minutes, to ensure everyone can use it.
And you, did you already know and respect these good practices? 🙂 In any case, remember to always check for any additional rules established by the dog park you attend!
