The first Friday of October is World Smile Day, an occasion to remind ourselves of the power of a simple and natural gesture, one that comes straight from the heart. A symbol of joy, kindness, empathy, friendship, serenity. Can you imagine a world without smiles?
Smiles, in particular, are the focus of Operation Smile's commitment, active in more than 40 countries worldwide to provide free medical assistance and care to children born with a cleft lip and palate.
Cleft lip and palate is a facial malformation that causes a split in the palate, gum and/or upper lip. Millions of people worldwide are affected by this congenital condition and the majority of them, unfortunately, do not have access to the necessary medical care.
