February 28, 2007: Dutchess, at the time a Fox Terrier puppy, disappeared from her home in Boca Raton, Florida, and never returned.
Although many searches proved fruitless, Katheryn, her owner, decided not to give up. She continued to renew Dutchess's microchip, year after year, hoping to be contacted if the little dog was ever found.
A full 12 years have passed since she went missing but, finally, Katheryn's perseverance and tenacity have been rewarded. Dutchess, now a 14-year-old dog, was found in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, nearly 2000 kilometers from home.
Cold and hungry, the little one was taken to an animal shelter, where scanning her microchip made it possible to trace her owner. Who can know what adventures and how many have taken Dutchess so far from home?
The important thing is that everything ended well: after 12 years – and 18 hours of travel for Katheryn – dog and owner were reunited never to be separated again. Watch the video below of the touching moment of their reunion!
Sometimes, you just have to keep hope alive.
